Signs worth listening to

Every child grows at their own pace. But if you notice any of these changes and they persist over time, an assessment can help you understand what is going on.

  • Changes in mood

Persistent sadness, irritability, frequent crying or loss of interest in things they used to enjoy.

  • Attention and learning

Difficulty concentrating, constant restlessness or poor school performance without a clear reason.

  • Fears and worries

Anxiety that gets in the way of school, sleep or social life; intense fears or avoidance.

  • Sleep and eating

Marked changes in sleep or eating habits, or excessive concern about their body.

  • Behavior and relationships

Frequent conflicts, isolation or difficulty getting along at home or with other children.

  • Development and communication

Differences in language, social interaction or repetitive behaviors.

Comprehensive care, with the family at the center

Mindova was founded to provide comprehensive mental health care for children and adolescents, actively involving the family in the therapeutic process.

That is why our approach is grounded in up-to-date medical literature and takes into account the whole context of each patient: their history, their family, their school and their social environment.

  • The family, part of the process

Parents and caregivers understand what is happening, get their questions answered and receive tools to provide support at home.

  • Evidence-based

Clinical decisions grounded in the most current medical literature.

  • Each patient’s context

Not just the symptoms: we consider who each child or adolescent is and the world they live in.

  • Group therapy

In-person sessions that strengthen the therapeutic process among peers.

One process, the full picture

Assessment, diagnosis and treatment are all part of the same consultation: no separate services, and one specialist who knows the whole story.

Ask on WhatsApp
What is the difference between a child psychiatrist and a psychologist?

A child and adolescent psychiatrist is a medical doctor with specialist training: they can make clinical diagnoses, order tests, prescribe medication when needed and coordinate treatment with other professionals. A psychologist focuses on psychological assessment and psychotherapy. They often work as a team.

What happens at the first consultation?

We talk with the parents or caregivers and with the child or adolescent. We review their development, health, school and family life, and carry out the assessment. At the end, we share an initial impression and the next steps.

Should my child come to the first appointment?

It depends on their age and the reason for the visit. When you message us on WhatsApp, we will guide you on the best way to arrange the first appointment.

What should I bring to the consultation?

If you have them, bring school reports, previous evaluations or therapy reports, medical records and a list of any medications your child is taking.

Is medication always prescribed?

No. Treatment depends on each case and may include family guidance, psychotherapy, group therapy and work with the school. When medication could help, we explain its benefits and possible side effects, and the decision is made together with the family.

Do online consultations work as well?

For many concerns, online care allows for a high-quality assessment and follow-up. If an in-person assessment is needed in a particular case, we will let you know.

Is the information confidential?

Yes. Everything shared in consultation is protected by medical confidentiality. With adolescents, we agree from the start on what information is shared with parents, always prioritizing their safety.

Are consultations available in English?

Yes. Dr. Aldas sees patients in English, Spanish and French, both in person and online. For group therapy, ask us on WhatsApp which language each group is held in.

How do I book an appointment or group therapy?

Message us on WhatsApp at +57 318 079 7777 and we will help you find a time. We are open Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., in person or online. Group therapy is held in person and is also booked via WhatsApp.
